Students and faculty from the University of Reno, Reynolds School of Journalism, came together in Studio A at the Reynolds School of Journalism to hear my presentation “The Rise of the New Asian American”. During this talk, I go over how I never envisioned becoming an activist. But when my love of movies, media, and data led me to realize the undeniable underrepresentation of Asian-Americans at the box office, I was able to identify a growing audience and mindset, which prompted me to created the #StarringJohnCho social media campaign.
